What to Bring
Most people find the gear they use for a Springtime UK day is perfect for most of the year. In the summer, don't forget it can reach 45C and it helps to dress accordingly. A camera, small rucksac and some longsleeves as well as shortsleeves to keep the sun off as well as the wind are essential, as is travel insurance (see our links page).
A reasonable spec hardtail or XC full-sus bike is ideal - we ride uphill as well as down so don't bring a bike you won't be happy pedalling against gravity... Spares such as MECH HANGER, brakepads, lube and inner-tubes (we like slime selfsealing tubes to cope with Spanish prickles) are worth bringing too. Don't forget a helmet too - no lid, no ride, simple!!!
The El Chorro Natural Park is the ideal playground for the skilled Mountain biker. Here you will find hundreds of miles of windy forest trails, as well as lots of single trails and some very technical, steep descents for the ambitious Freerider. All of this can be accessed right from the Finca La Campana. We provide a wide range of Mountain bikes and have a tool shop for quick repairs. Download a PDF map of the El Chorro area with some routes that we recommend.
Although we do have some "Gran Recorridos" (GR) and "Pequeno Recorridos" (PR way-marked long and short distance footpaths maintained by National and Local Authorities), the majority of our routes remain unmarked, off the map and give bermless, ungroomed "Proper Mountain Biking" utilising access tracks, ancient rights of way, goat trails, hunter's paths, ridge lines, traverses, singletrack and rockgardens. It's all totally natural, dry and dusty, steep and fast, loose and rocky and tourist free.
We highly recommend the award winning mountain bike guide book published by www.bike-fax.com
